The Singapore F1 Grand Prix is coming. The Singapore leg race begins on 26th September until 28th September 2008.

Singapore is the only street race in Asia and it is the First and only Night Race. If you are a F1 fan, do not miss this historical race in F1 history. Tickets are going out fast.

Bali Eating Places - Dulang Restaurant

Dulang restaurant is located at Kuta Square, beside Matahari shopping complex. It serves western, Chinese and local Balinese dishes. We had tried the fried rice noodle and special chicken dish. Not bad! The price is also relatively cheap. Most visitor will have one meal in this restaurant.

It is quite easy to locate the restaurant. It is difficult to miss this restaurant with its water spray and the Green awning that has the big word Dulang.

Inland of Bali island has a drastic difference with the beach area. The inland area still preserve the local Bali lifestyle. You will get to see a lot of paddy fields and wood houses. Although at some of the tourist spot, there are restaurants and resorts built, majority of the areas are still very much the original Balinese. A great contrast to the commercially developed beach area.

We saw a terraced paddy field while on the way to Mt. Batur. What a spectacular view!

The Singapore Flyer, a newly added tourists attraction in Singapore, in February 2008. Currently is the highest observation wheel in the world. You will get to see the Singapore Cityscape, taking panaromic shot of the city skyline and landscape.

This is definitely something that you should not miss when visiting Singapore. Check out the various landmark and event that you can see from the Flyer Wheel here.

Special Events that you can look out for, and take the Singapore Flyer during that event:

Singapore National Day Parade, on the 9th August (unless weather causing it to change date)
- You will get to see the Republic of Singapore Airforce Black Knight Aerobatic team performance, featuring 6 F16 Fighting Falcon Fighter Jets.

When is the best time to visit Singapore

To answer the question when is the best time to visit Singapore, it depends what do you want to do when visiting Singapore. Below is the list of activities and the recommended period:

If you want to visit the famous Singapore Zoo and Night Safari, visit from March to September.
If you want to do a lot of shoppings, visit at end May to early July. That is where the Great Singapore Sales is held. Finding 20% to 30% discount or more is possible during this period. Every year, there are many Trade Shows held in Singapore. For example there are 2 major IT shows, one in March and one in September. Check out the actual date of various Trade Shows.
Every year during Chinese New Year, around February period, there is Chingay Parade. It is like a carnival. There are Floats and Dances on the street. Fireworks will also be available.
Once every two years, is the Singapore Airshow which usaully held in late February. You will get to see aerobatic and live display of the world’s most advance military and civilian aircrafts.
August 9 is the National Day of Singapore. You will get to see the National Day Parade and Firework.
Starting September 2008, Singapore will be one of the F1 race spot. Singapore is the only F1 street race in Asia and the first night-race in F1 history. For the F1 fans, this is not to be missed. You can get to enjoy the race from a hotel beside the race route.
Not to forget the two coming Integrated Resorts in Marina Bay and Sentosa Island. The Marina Bay Resorts is run by Las Vegas Sands Corporation. Apart from the casino, you will find a lot of other entertainment and leisure attractions. Not to forget the shoppings. The Sentosa Resort is run by Malaysia Genting Group. Universal Studios will be one of the attraction in Sentosa Resort.

Apart from the beaches, there are also many scenic places in the inland area of Bali. The volcanic mountains are worth visiting. There are about 16 volcanos in Bali island. Two of the popular one are Mt. Agung and Mt. Batur. Mt. Agung is the tallest mountain in Bali, while Mt. Batur is one of the most active volcano, which occassionally lava flow can be seen.

Mt. Batur is formed by 3 cone-like mountain and Batur lake is just beside it. The best way to view Mt. Batur is from Kintamani. From there, you can get the full view of Mt. Batur and Batur lake.

Points to take note when travel to Bali Indonesia

When need to take taxi or limousine at Denpasar airport, do not go for those who approach you. Go for those at the counter or hotel limousine.
When looking for taxi on the road, go for those that turn on the meter. The taxi bearing “Blue Bird” is highly recommended by many travel guide. We observe that they turn on the meter without request.
Try to avoid driving yourself. Rent a car with a local driver. There were cases that foreigner being blackmailed by local when caught in road accident, even though they were not at fault. With a local driver, such incident can be avoided. The local driver also can be the tour guide.
If you are hiring a local driver cum tour guide, try to book it through your hotel resort. Avoid hiring someone from the road.

Famous Sunset Spot in Bali

Tanah Lot means “Land in Middle of the Sea” in Balinese language. The famous temple, Pura Tanah Lot is a rock formed temple. During high tide, the temple is sepearated from the land and stands in the middle of the sea.

The Tanah Lot is a famous spot for sunset view. Many tourists will sit along the cliff to take the sunset photo with the Pura Tanal Lot temple. The silhouette of the temple with the red sky in the background create a perfect sunset view.
