Discover the Mystery of the Medicine Lake

The Medicine Lake is the most mysterious lake in the Canada Rocky Mountain area. Every autumn, the water level will start to drop and eventually dried up by November. Then in the following year summer, when the snow from the mountain melted and water starts flowing down, the lake will again filled with water, and it can go as deep as 20 meters.

In recent years, the mystery has been explained. A group of divers dived into the lake and they noticed that there are many crack lines on the bottom of the lake. Water are slowly draining away through the crack lines. Because during summer, the water is filling faster than its draining speed, the lake get filled up. Then by late summer, most of the snow has melted, with much lesser water flowing to the lake. The lake water is draining away faster than it can fill up and eventually all dried up. It is believe that below the bed of the lake is a huge under ground cave and all the water become under ground water. We booked a local tour with Brewster, a Canadian Rockies tour specialist. The coach driver and who is also the guide is very knowledgeable, giving us a lot of information and history of the places along the way.
